Spreadsheet Help?

had no idea where to put this and it is only a quick question. I want to make a googledoc spreadsheet which is just just a section from another googledoc spreadsheet, so than when stuff is changed on the originial it will appear on the new spreadsheet i am trying to make. I think i found the right formula but not sure how to use it, the insertrange forumla = =ImportRange(spreadsheet_key, sheet!range). Is That right and how do i use it?

No idea, but I do know that you can just add another page to a spreadsheet that already exists and put a formula in the part which you want to be dependent, then it will change as the other changes. See: paratrooper roster, the total number of paras at the end page changes when the totals of each platoon page changes.

Yeah but i want to give my sergeants each a spreadsheet with just their squad from the main reserve roster, because the sergeants are not allowed to the see the overall roster.

you can give people access so you could set them access to only the preadsheets that need to see im not too sure if you can do it for the same document

Thats the problem i cant give them access to the overall spreadsheet, but if i create some new spreadsheets i will have to keep manually updating them which will take ages.

yeah that is a bit of a problem really, not too sure how to solve that, have you tried turning it on and of again?
