Not such a big deal. We've had ID cards for years here in Malta and its great.

i think they have to get a warrant here too, but it's easier to get. my ex works for the police, which means this will bug me untill i phone her...which will p*** her off and i'll be in the doghouse and it's all your fault Taytaz Razz

Actually there's a tricky loop hole here in the US with laptops. A warrentless seizure and search of a computer can be committed against a person who either crosses the border or is in the "border territory, which constitutes the 50 miles inland from the actual border. This comes out to roughly 70% of the population. Although unlikely that it will be used against any person it is unsettling. Might I add that under the guise of "anti-terror" laws most rules police and federal agents originally needed to follow are no longer applicable if you simply apply the word Terrorist. I work for a security company and we received warnings about the workers rights group ACORN, using language to suggest that they were terrorists and if sighted to be reported as domestic terrorists. What a farce.

I don't see a problem with this, it's basicly a threat to companies holding the ID card data, if you don't keep this information secure we're going to town on your behind.
