Wow, i recently got CoD5 and I am astounded at it. I love it. What are your opinions of the new CoD or do you prefer the old one perhaps? Let us know?

I'm getting CoD5 for xmas, heard mixed reviews, some people love it some hate it. If it's even the same quality as CoD4 it'll be great I love CoD4.

That's not CoD5, it's just World at War, I think they're doing their naming scheme like GTA now, with only direct sequals moving the numeric along

I don't have it, and whether or not I get it is still up in the air.

When I played the demo, I couldn't wrap my mind around the game. I kept hoping that all of a sudden I'd respawn with a Mini-Uzi or a AK-47.

In my opinion, the thing that made CoD4 popular was the Modern-Warfare.

And the fact that it was tied in with what i thought was an awesome story line.

WaW has failed to impress me yet. Quite personally, i think the Jap levels i've done have been shite. I enjoyed the two russian missions that you get to do so much more. I just hope it changes my opinion quite soon.
So far, i'm just getting bad memories from what i think was MoH: Rising Sun. That was so repetitive i didn't even bother to play through to complete it and i never do that with anything. I know they're not really similar, just that's the only game i've played that's been set in the Pacific Theatre so it has probabaly tainted my initial opinion.
Gonna give it another go today, i'm currently in the middle of 'Burn Em Out'.

Atleast since CoD:WaW was made by Treyarch instead of Infinity Ward, it means they're already hard at work on the real sequel.

Yay..CoD:WaW was so-so. Doesn't come to par with COD4. Though I do like the co-op play and that awesome extra mode, nazi zombies.

The Japanese level were pretty crappy compare to russian level. (Those damn banzai attacks gets old after awhile)

Haa, you guys a pretty opinionated.

Personally, I love it, I know it is very similar to CoD4 but I loved that, so what's going to make me hate tis. I must say that the weapons aren't as good but it still is a terrific game.

The campaign, once again, is very short. This is very annoying seeing as I enjoyed it and I wanted to do more missions!!!

Btw, thanks for John for correcting me, Call of Duty: World at War

First of all I think it is brilliant Smile it has taken the base of Call of Duty 4 and built on it to make it something else and something much better.

About the name, there will be no more numbered Call of Duty's, this isnt a shoot off it is the sequel, it is Call of Duty 5 in all but name.

Call of Duty 5: World at War Empty Re: Call of Duty 5: World at War

Post by hammybear Sat Nov 22, 2008 5:00 pm

Ok so i completed it last night. BIG dissappointment. At first i knew not to expect much coming from Treyarch as CoD3 didn't touch 2 or 4. Then on tuesday my mate said he'd played it and said it was awesome, and even went as far to say that he thought it was better than CoD4:MW. So hearing this i got it on wednesday as i'm off work recovering from an op.
I don't know exactly what it is, but the japanese missions just weren't enjoyable. Throughout the whole Marine story, Black Cats was the only good mission and then the last mission had the best bit of the game. The mortars. That's it, priming and throwing mortars was what excited me the most about it.
Whereas with the Russian story line, i felt it had much more action and the missions were just generally better.
Saying all this, i'd still suggest you buy it just for the multiplayer side of it. That's not to say don't bother with the Campaign, just don't expect to be thrilled by it Wink
German Zombies is a lot of fun and the usual multiplayer mode was good too. I haven't tried the Campaign Co-op yet but it sounds like a nice touch to liven it up a bit.
I look forward to seeing where Infinity Ward take the next one, considering they turned this one down because they didn't want to do WWII again.

Fair enough.
I do like the Nazi Zombies too. Great fun when you've got mates around. But it's very annoying that you can only have 2 players on one console.

I only get CoD for the multiplayer anyway, I thought the campaign on CoD4 was crap and I only completed it after I got prestige mode twice. I like the sound of the Nazi mode and the co op campaign as well though.

What didn't you like about the campaign in Cod4 widdows? Obviously it depends on what your take on military based stuff is i guess and what era you prefer. Do you play alot of FPS's anyway or just the CoD series?
I'm just about to go and try the Live Co-op on the campaign, should be good.

Well I just think it's too easy on the lower difficulty modes and too hard on veteran difficulty, I also thought it was too short. Another reason was no matter how good and intelligent the AI are, they don't come close to playing other humans.

I only play on CoD. You see the thing is I've never liked FPSs and only got CoD4 for the multiplayer.

In regards to the Nazi thing: Is that an online mode or someone sitting with you and playing? Same thing for the co-op campaign?

The Nazi Zombie game can be played, both Online and with a mate on the same console. Online, you can play up to 4 players, but on one console its only 2. But with 2 players the screen is pretty small anyway.
Unless you have like a 40 inch TV, which I don't.

I think its one of those games where it would be good to have but not essential

I'm gonna wait for the price to lower a bit before I consider getting it

Although the idea of bayonets is enticing
