Re: Homework Thread
I would be able to help in the Quadratic Equation question if I had my college notes with me.
I take it few people are doing Construction Science

yes, I can do that to.
but I use it more to store summary's.
some professors are even that smart to publish summaries on the net. Saves me the time of typing them in notepad before uploading them on that calculator.

My question:
How does one persuade a UK exam board not to mess around with your results?

Re: Homework Thread
I could probably help in GCSE-level maths, GCSE-level physics and chemistry (got 100% in both those exams this year). I'm doing a Spanish AS this year, so I could probably help you with that, especially since my strongest exam is the writing one.
As for GCSE's, they're basically just the last compulsory exams you do and define your career mostly. You take 9/10/11 within school normally, can take extra-curricular ones. They're pretty much the most important things in your education, since they decide whether you get to do A levels or not, which decide whether you get to go to uni or not. If you don't do either of those two, then they're the only qualifications you have to show on your CV.

Not really. Bad ones can very easily be put right, and good ones can get you nowhere.

Re: Homework Thread
Well, they may not make much difference once you have better qualifications, but if you don't do well enough in your GCSE's, then you may very well not get any higher qualifications. So I'd say that while professionally they don't mean much at all, if anything, they are important.

GCSE'S are... at worst a goddam hassle... Another page of coursework redraft and im going to be making holes in the wall with my fist.
(Ive been through four essays over 6 times, it equals up to something silly like 250 page redrafts now just to get it perfected to a teachers liking)

Re: Homework Thread
May not get to do higher qualifications?! Seriously, most 6th forms will take anyone (they get more funding that way). And anyone can do a college course.

Re: Homework Thread
Well, my school requires you to get at least... A's, I think, in your choices. You need C's in everything else, I think. My school isn't actually private, either, so y'know.
What do you mean by college course? Universities don't let just anybody on, so what do you mean when you say anyone can do a college course?

Funny really, my Secondary School closed off there Sixth Form two years back...
Before they left - The 6th Form Students Made a huge communist symbol across the floor before painting it in (Damned PCP extremists!)
, aswell as
- Putting mouldy custard in a roof Tile
- Knocking all of the plug sockets off the walls
- Making a fort out of pillows tables and chairs
- Shooting one of the windows out with a Air rifle on a bet that the pellet couldnt smash the window.
