Nice article. I'm in full agreement with a lot of what you said, in principle at least I feel it's important for the public to have a say in what goes on in congress. However, we can't have referendums on everything that goes through congress, so I think that if this were to be implemented, it would have to be worked into the constitution or something like that as to what sorts of proposals can be voted on by the general public.

I completely agree, Delios, which is why I stated in the article that, "Highly contentious legislation, or policies that will have far-reaching effects on citizens, can and should be voted upon by the nation as a whole." We don't need to hold a referendum on everything (and realistically can't hope to.) However, that shouldn't stop us from giving the citizens the final say on important issues.
