Humph
BBC Link.
Samantha has just been to visit Humph again. She can't keep her hands off the old stiff. Samantha says he kept it up right until the very end.
They've just read out Humph's will, not too many suprises in it. Samantha had tears in her eyes as Humph gave her his horn, it was a long time coming but it still made her choke.
The arrangements have been made for the memorial service. Colin Sell is on the piano, the hymns are displayed on the giant multiplex laser display screen, and the mourners singing one final rendition of Nearer My God To Thee"... to the tune of "We'll Meet Again".
And so, as the Jazz musician of time is spirited up to the Pearly Gates of destiny, only for St Peter to tell him to watch where he's sticking his French Horn of eternity, we notice it's the end of the show.
PS: At least Mrs Trellis knows where to write to you now!

Re: Humph
ah, I love jazz.
there is nothing more enjoying then sitting on your terrace, looking at the sunset with a good scotch and some jazz on the background.
always a shame when a jazz legend dies
RIP

Re: Humph
I didn't know him for the Jazz, but he was inimitable on ISIHAC. Radio 4 will not be the same.
